TAPER

Well 3 weeks out from Boston and now it is time to begin to taper. I am doing a 3 week taper which it was I feel works best for me. I will reduce my mileage each week so that I am well rested for Boston.

This will be my second time running Boston and I have heard the your first time is always the toughest since you have to earn the respect for this marathon. I am looking forward to this race since all the hard work is done and the reward is within grasp. The race is the easy part.

Boston Week # 13

Good week of training. Did 82 miles. I have updated all the totals.

Happy Training.

Why Run Boston

There is a scene in this movie where the football players challenge their coach. The deal is if she can out run them on the track she stays if she fails she quits. So the challenge goes on and as only one player is left she turns and says I forgot to tell you I ran the Boston Marathon Twice. I said to myself wow that would be cool do to. That was many years back but it is cool to be able to tell people you have run the Superbowl of all marathons.

This is one reason I run Boston.

NYC and New Shoes

Well I was accepted into the NYC marathon today. So my fall marathon is set. NOV 1, 2009 is this race.

As for new shoes. I had sent a pair of sneakers back to saucony and they replaced them so I began to use this pair today it was nice to run some miles in some new sneakers. They feel nice after you been running in the same pair for the past couple months. Boston is getting close more stories to come.

Bostom Week # 11 and Caesar Rodney Half Marathon

Well only 5 weeks until the big race. Had another solid week of training this past week. I did an easy track workout on Friday which was nice and took off Sat because of the race on Sunday.
This was a nice Half Marathon it ran through the streets of downtown Wilmington and some of the other areas around the city. It had some decent climbs but also some nice down hills. I did not really set a goal time. I know that I did want to go under 1:30. I ended up running 1:22:27. That is an avg of 6:18 per mile. This time also allows me to get into the NYC Marathon without going through the lottery so I am leaning towards that as my fall marathon.

Big congrats to my buddy Kevin who was first in his age group and 9th overall. You can check out the results here.

I was 41 overall and 12th in my age group. This was a cool race and nice climb at the finish.

I will update all the totals and documents. Happy Training.
