Boston Week # 5 and Jan 2009 Wrap Up.

Did a cold 20 miler today. I was not prepared to run it but got it done. It was cold and there some strong headwinds. It was nice to get a 20 miler in. The first one is always the toughest.

As for Jan 2009 I did 270 miles. That a good start to my training for Boston. Last year I only ran about 189 miles in Jan so that is a good increase. I will post all the totals at the bottom on this post.

Week was good saw the last College Basketball game at the Spectrum in Philadelphia. That place has history and it will be missed. Villanova won it was a great game. Enjoy the Superbowl. Go Steelers.

Well this race was a nice half marathon. Two loops through Central Park. It was Marco, Kevin and myself. We left around 5am arrived in NYC around 6:50am. We picked up our race numbers on 89st parked the car and we jogged to the start. We only had about 20 mins to spare once we got there. We checked our bags and headed to the start. I was seated in a slower wave because the time estimate I gave them was not correct. The race began and I was weaving in and out of people until mile 3 and then I finally got into a rhythm and race my race. There was once tough climb around mile 5 and mile 10 but all I do is run on hills so this was nothing out of the ordinary. The first lap was nice since once I got into my zone I was running with people and there was room to run. After the second lap around mile 10 things began to get a but crowded you had people still on lap one who were walking on the inside of the course so had to weave in and out. As we got closer to the finish it was even more crowded. I actually bumped into a larger size women who yelled. I ignored her and took off towards the finish. Overall this was a well organized race and just the right amount of people. It was nice to get a race in early in my Boston Training. It was also my first race in the 30-34 age group. All my results are listed at the top of this page.

Here are my weekly totals for Boston. I used the race today as my long run for my week.

Boston Week #3

Well what a cold week of running. I did not get a long run in this weekend due to the cold weather but I was able to do some medium runs each day. I still managed to get 58 miles in so I will take it.
It snowed today so it was nice running in it. Running in snow is nice but you have to slow your pace down because everything is slippery. I have updated all the excel sheets for the week and I will post my weekly totals. If you are looking for some cheap running tips check out Frank's Blog great insight as to cut costs. Enjoy your week more to come.

2008 Year End and Boston Training Week #1

Well 2008 us wrapped up. Happy New Year. I have updated all the totals for all three sports. The mileage totals are posted on the link on the right of this page.

Did a 5k on New Years Eve. Ran an 18:44 was sixth overall. This was a good race. I used it as my speed workout for the week.

Yesterday did a nice 15miler at Valley Forge. It was cold at first but then it warmed up. We run a loop around the park which is about 7 miles. It is a good loop because it has some challenging hills. It was good to get out and get a long run in. Here are the totals for week 1 of Boston. I have also added this sheet to the right side of this page. Enjoy your week. GO EAGLES.
